Reasons Why Your Unit May Not be Functioning Properly

The following are several reasons why your HVAC unit may not be functioning properly:

Change if necessary.[/list] [list icon=”moon-checkbox” color=”#ee1f24″]Check your circuit breakers both at the unit and inside your home.[/list] [list icon=”moon-checkbox” color=”#ee1f24″]If you have a heat pump and the “emergency heat” light stays on, turn your thermostat switch to Emergency Heat only position. This will prevent your outdoor unit from running.[/list] [list icon=”moon-checkbox” color=”#ee1f24″]In severe cold weather, your heat pump unit may freeze over time. It should have a defrost device to thaw the unit. The unit makes a “whoosh” noise and melting ice may produce visible light steam.[/list] [list icon=”moon-checkbox” color=”#ee1f24″]Clogged filters can cause your unit to freeze. Turn off your unit and change the filter.
